“Be a sponge. Spend as much time as possible with people who truly know their craft and be a great listener. That is how you learn.”
Entrepreneur, Jerry Colangelo
Your action for today is to identify one person you can learn something from and make an appointment to go see them.
O.K. I admit, this picture had me laughing for a few minuter but the message is spot on! One of the things that really helps to build a great network of people is to learn from your peers. I have a list, an actual list, that has all of the people I would like to meet and get to know. One of the habits I got into early on was to always be looking for opportunities to get to know the movers and shakers by taking them to lunch. Think about this, how would you feel if someone called you and asked to take you to lunch just to get to know you? I am always looking for ways to enhance the people I know so when I take someone to lunch I am looking at it from a point of view on how I can support them in their business. I try not to make it about me at all but rather the give first way of thinking.
I hope you will make your own list of the people you would like to get to know and invite at least one of them to lunch.
Give someone you want to meet an AWESOME day by inviting them to lunch!!
This is such a great Nugget if I do say so myself! The quest to build a large vast business network made up of people we like, trust and maybe even want to do business with is one that takes time and is very heavy into building relationships. I called several people and let them know that they are in fact one of the 3 people I would call if I ever got into serious trouble. it was great because we ended up getting a good chuckle out of the call but it was really important to let them know how much I value them. I hope you enjoy the video Networking Nuggets enough that you will either share it to your Facebook wall or subscribe to my YouTube channel.
Give someone an AWESOME day and let them know to keep some bail money handy!!!
<<Networking Nugget>> Today is the day to go outside your comfort zone a bit. You are just starting to find out how to support them in their business.
I would like to take a second and thank YOU for taking the time to check out my blog. I try to keep it fresh and interesting for you and I will always try my best to bring you useful short things that have helped me build up a pretty dang big network of people. “What we do during our working hours determines what we have; what we do in our leisure hours determines what we are.”
Entrepreneur, George Eastman
Your action for today is to devote at least 30 minutes to a leisure activity.
It is so important that we have some fun in our lives. This is a great reminder that we all need to take a bit out out of the hectic day to day and at least have a bit of fun. I thought this image was kind of interesting.
<<Networking Nugget>> Today it is your goal to simply offer to take someones picture with their camera. When you do this, you are not only being a good person but you are also getting in the habit of seeing new opportunities to meet people in a non threatening way.
This is such a cool one! I go tint the habit of taking people’s picture while out and about just because I like to be a good person and I know that pictures create memories for people. Since I always look for ways to meet new people and to open conversation this is a very simple way to accomplish both. I had made several friends that I have connected with on Facebook just because I offered to help them out by snapping a pic for them. Really, this takes all of 30 seconds if it does not result in a conversation and you make someone’s day. I am posting this on Friday so you can have it anchored in your brain for the weekend.

“I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took any excuse.”
Nurse and Writer, Florence Nightingale
Your action for today is to pay attention to how many excuses you use or hear others use during the day.
This is so potent as our language is so important. I started to pay close attention to the words I was using and realized that I use to allow myself to keep myself from being boxed into any commitment. When you are out networking or just hanging around other people, if you start to pay very close attention, you will start to hear so many excuses. Even though it seems easy enough to just do what you say you are going to do, it is very easy to allow yourself off the hook. I started working with a business coach and one of the main things she is on me about is making sure that I stay to my word no matter what. When I am actually listening for excuses from people it helps me not make them just because they all start to sound a bit silly. Try just going into a meeting or networking event and pay close attention to how often people give excuses for everything and then next time try yourself to NOT give a single excuse. You will sound completely different. Posture is everything!!
